Thousands of children have been 'edutained' (entertained and taught) using the Axtell Dodo bird I bought 9 years ago....The reaction as I walk out in front of an audience with an Axtell puppet gives me a buzz every time. That's why my collection keeps growing. Excellent puppets, excellent characters, excellent axpressions, excellent quality, excellent service. Although I have to be honest. There is one problem... WHICH ONE DO I GET NEXT!?!?!? Ray Cooper, New Zealand

Steve, I am incredibly pleased with the Rodney Rabbit I just received from you. It is very easy to look professional with your figure. I can tell already that Rodney will be a highly attractive selling point for my shows. I am very interested in any script ideas that you may have collected over the years for Rodney. Thank you very much.

The fine artwork and the perfectly
fitting design of your puppets
definitely take a great part of my
success as a professional
ventriloquist. In fact, working with
your amazing characters, meant a
big jump in my career: On one
hand by the increase of self-
confidence due to the immense
success, on the other hand, I could
multiply my income.
Your dynamic innovation functions
as a model for my own creativity.
Thanks for your exemplary service.

" Thank you for your dedication to excellence at Axtell Expressions. In the 10 years that we have been entertaining children and families, your characters have always been the hit of the show and because your characters are much more colorful and lifelike, we have decided to sell off our wooden figures and use only Axtell characters.."

Hi Steve, ... I had been intrigued by the adds you ran, but never having met you or seen your products, I had a wait & see attitude. Someone did plug the board on this newsletter (I think) which again intrigued me, but I don't mail order products site unseen. Like all of us Clowns--I have a trunk full of magic, that I do not use--not taking the time yet to perfect the routines. There is no practice with the drawing board--within minutes I had a silly face talking to my kids--my biggest fans and best critics. These boys have seen all the magic shows pro & workshop--seen Mom & friends practice, and helped me develop my "lines" --the 10 (ten) year old who is highly intelligent & talented in many ways including slight of hand, was open mouthed in awe! The 5 year old who is silly, & sometimes a bit slow, walked around the table & said "Hey let me see the back of that--you must be moving something." Even thier Dad had missed the eyes coming out, and was astonished that I was doing this great Magic--right before their eyes, and he didn't know how. Anyone else reading this semi-private note to Steve--I have not met him, this is not a "paid" plug--just feel when we find a great product made to entertain kids & adults--everyone should know! Thanks Berry-Merry

Steve just a quick note to tell you how pleased I am with the Bird Arm puppet and Bird Arm Illusion. I have made this a regular part of my show as well as incorporating it into some theme shows I have written particularly my theme show on drug abuse. Of all the effects I do Vern certainly gets the biggest applause and he is competing against some very good effects like Jumbo Sidekick from Collectors, Lester lake Guillotine, Harbin Chair Suspension, Terry Luncefords Snake Basket to name a few. Anyway thanks for all your help, Vern has been a great addition to my show.

Steve, I can't begin to tell you how great this bird is... I just got him today and I've already fooled every staff member at the church with the arm illusion. I only wish I hadn't waited so long to purchase him. Thanks again, Steve! Keep up the good work!

| I finally found what everyone is talking about. I belong to Cyber Clowns and was getting tired of hearing about this wonderful magic board. Steve the (Lion) puppet is super!!!! It is going to really make the show come alive I thank you for getting it to us so quickly. Two years ago I bought an Axtell Rodney Rabbit and never had the chance to use him in a show, we tried him out for the first time tonight and the compliments where all about him. Just the look of the puppet brings out the laughs. I do belive he is going to have to be made into my main figure just because of the reaction I recieved, even before he said a word the group loved him, made it easy to entertain them.
The whole show went great, once the rabbit open the show I had the audience eating out of my hand for the rest of the show. Thanks for a great product Ax -- Dave Hereid Sr. The Magic Man Clinton, Iowa

Hey AX . . . Two shows today with Vern (Bonkers in my show) and the Christmas Burd routine. Always goes over great. These were pre school kids. Two more at same location tomorrow. The teachers love the routine too! Even before I was set up, they had booked me back for 4 Halloween shows for next year. (This is my third year here at Christmas time.) Thanks again . . . and for the rest of the folks in here - I highly recommend Axtell's Bird puppet(Vern) and the tapes. You do not have to learn vent to do the routines, it is all on tape. I also regularly use the Art Lesson tape with the Magic Drawing Board. I'm not using the Drawing Bd in the Christmas show as the Board routine and the Bird routine I think are too similar to do both in the same show. John "Doc" Morrissy
The Magic Drawing Board is great!!! I have had the prop for a few years and played around with it while trying to figure out a routine that I liked. At last, I tried it out this weekend for a performance I did for a friend's birthday party. Well, the response was very strong indeed. My routine needs some work (hey, you gotta try out the jokes somewhere), but the reaction when the eyes moved on the Board was a joyous thing to behold! Several people complimented me on the routine and asked things like, "How does that thing work?" and "How did you make those eyes move?" Many of these people were actors and theatre techs, so the fact that it baffled them made me very happy. Now, if you could only come up with a version where the nose twitched and the ears wiggled! Joe L.
Hey, Ax! Got my Magic Drawing Board yesterday...COOL! I did an impromptu bit with it last night for my roommate and a couple of other guys who had been wandering the dorm hallway. Needless to say, they were impressed! I can't wait to use it in a performance I'm doing this Thursday. What a great prop. Mike Horner
Just wanted to you know I received "Floyd" on schedule. I was very impressed with your prompt return call after I placed my order on a Saturday, as well as the prompt turn-around time on the order itself. As for Floyd, aka "Chester", I'm very pleased with the workmanship. The detail of his face suggested a personality I had never considered before. By the end of his first night with us, he was a hit with my family. I look forward to years of his sage, down-home advice and wit. A superb addition to our ministry! Thanks again! Steve Toegel
Update - Before receiving "Floyd" a few weeks ago, I had planned to work with him for a few months before getting him involved with our ministry. Once he came, I knew I couldn't wait a few months. He made his"debut" yesterday and the response was amazing. The moment the audience saw him, their faces were beaming and ready to see what this guy had to say. I have never seen this type of warm, receptive response to any of my other characters. Thanks again for a quality product that makes my job easier! Steve Toegel
Just a quick note to thank you for the "Louie" puppet I received a week ago. You told me earlier that he would be beautiful when you finished with him. He is not only beautiful, but absolutely fabulous! I've never seen better workmanship! It was WELL worth the wait, and I thank you very much. I look forward to ordering more puppets in the future, as I'm able to write up routines for them.

I HEARD ABOUT YOUR COMPANY THROUGH A MAGIC STORE WHERE I WAS WORKING AS A MIME. I TOLD THEM I WAS INTRESTED IN VENTRILOQUISM,AND >THEY TOLD ME ABOUT YOUR BIRD ARM ILLUSION,PLUS I HAVE BEEN IN SEARCH OF THE "MAGIC DRAWING BOARD",EVER SINCE I SAW A LOCAL VENTRILOQUIST PERFORM IT,IT WAS THE MOST CREATIVE THING I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE REST OF YOUR CREATIVE ITEMS.WELL TA TA SINCERLY WITH PEZ, J. CLINT ALLEN :)
Steve, I Purchase the one and only Man Eating Plant at the 1996 ConVENTion. I have seen it in your flyer, it was ok. Then I saw it in person and it looks so real (I even have it setting on a table in our eat in kitchen ..likes its a real plant), as soon as it was unpacked I reached for it and said "I'll take it". I now have three great Axtell products, The Magic Drawing Board, One of your birds, and the Man Eating Plant. Great stuff keep it up. Al Moessinger
I used (The Magic Drawing Board) today for a class in church. The reaction from the kids when the eyes started moving was priceless. When it started talking they were so amazed that they couldn't even talk they just stared at the board. What a >kick. I'm going to enjoy this. Thanks. Bruce Harry
I just finished a weeks work at a shopping mall using the drawing board. I have owned four of these and given away two to friends who use them. It was one of the highlights of the show. I just wanted to thank Steve personally for producing such a fantastic prop. Well done. Paul Romhany New Zealand
Steve, I just wanted to drop you a note letting you know that your puppets are the best. I have several puppets or figures from other companies and to be honest once I bring out one of your puppets, no one wants me to bring out any of the other puppets. Keith Long
(from a Mail List posting) This was taken from one of the newsgroups and used here with permission....
Frank, Welcome to the club! First, let me tell you that amateur or professional, you can't go wrong if you really enjoy what you're doing. I myself am new, but starting out using Axtell puppets has given me a very quick start. ..... You can approch your area Zoo about walk arounds. Especially if you have an Axtell Chimp, or any of their animal puppets. I am not yet fortunate enough to own a Pro Chimp, but when I can, I will be doing Philly Zoo walkarounds.
About the Wild Thing> again, without sounding too much like an Axtell commercial, is an Axtell puppet. Colorful, outragious and can be of a species of your imaginational choice. For a look at the latex puppets, really check out https://www.axtell.com then download the group photos he has online. They're very nice but still can't compare to seeing and using. Good luck with your Wild sketch. You could literally go crazy and still be in character with this puppet. Patrice |
This was the first time I had used Vern the Bird. We did two shows, and he was a big hit. So much so that when the TV news broadcast the success of the two day event, they went to their video of the main stage, and sure enough, there we were, me and Vern. Not just on one the 10:30pm news on Sunday, but again at 6:00pm on Monday. Worked out real well. I used the arm illusion. Fred Anderson
Dear Steve- Just did a show for 400 kids today, alot of magic and vent. The Pro magic Drawing Board was the hit of the show. I even stepped on it later while getting my figure out and it didn't hurt it at all. ( not recommeded, but good to know it's sturdy) ...Sincerely, M.A. "Denny" Denemark (Publisher of the Great Ventriloquists Trading Cards)
| Your puppets are of an excellent quality, and I love each and everyone of them. I own "Vern D. Bird", and he is just a joy to work with :-). I'm considering buying the professional Chimp Puppet, he is just incredible. Just wanted to let you know that we appreciate what a good job you're doing for all us Ventriloquists. Thanks Again. ....and thousands more! Our walls are covered with these comments.
Now, occasionally we do get a complaint from a dissatisfied customer, and a few folks have even asked for their money back which we sent to them right away. We also spent time with them on the phone asking them how they thought we could improve our products and we took notes! But, I bet out of our thousands of customers around the world, we've only been asked for a refund a handfull of times since 1982!
That's very satisfying to me personally, to my family and all of our talented staff.
THANK YOU! STEVE AXTELL

Carol Greene and
Reginald
I must tell you that I am
sooooo impressed with
your products and the
way you stand behind
your puppets. The more
I use Reginald, the more
fun he is to manipulate.
He likes to tease me by
suddenly wiggling his
hips, then turning
around and wiggling his
tail. When I try to get
him to settle down, he'll
kick his legs up and a
foot will go behind my
neck as he laughs and
hangs upside down. He
is really crazy and the
kids LOVE him.
Carol C:o)
P.S. I want another fun
puppet like Reginald.

I never thought I'd use
anything except my
wooden figures. After
all, they'd been with me
for 25 years! But my wife
(then fiance) bought me
one of your Burds
characters and I knew I
needed to show her how
much I appreciated it.
Imagine my surprise
when I used him on a
spur of the moment VBS
show, dubbed him 'Paco'
and the kids went wild.
Since then, I've
purchased your 'Magic
Drawing Board' and have
begun my 'wish list' of
future Axtell characters.
Thanks Steve!

A BIG "thank you" to you and
your superb crew at Axtell
Expressions for helping me
make my shows -- and my
career -- a success. Your
latex characters are living
cartoons that elicit immediate
audience response (laughter)
and are FUN to work with. I
honestly don't think I would
have been able to go full-time
and successfully make the
switch if it hadn't been for
your characters.
I use some wooden figures,
which I love but your
characters have increasingly
taken on bigger roles in my. In
appearance, Axtell
characters are genuine
works of art. In performance,
they are laugh creators -- the
right amount of light at a given
angle, or just the proper twist
of your hand or wrist inside
and they take on a whole
new expression. In short,
they're "cool."
Kids AND adults go wild over
Axtell Expressions puppets --
as does this ventriloquist!
Axtell Expressions may be an
investment...but they are one
of the few investments that
pays for itself many times
over.

Steve and company,
I just bought and
recieved not long ago
one of your Dodo birds.I
must say he is simply a
work of art...in all
aspects! I love him, he
is the ideal of what a
comic charachter looks
like, he has stolen the
show, before he even
says a word.
The only problem I had
with him, is in the first
show I used him, I put
him in the middle of my
program, big mistake,
he stole the show, the
audience liked
everything else just fine,
but nothing can follow
the bird! Your
charachters are the
most beautiful,
professional, effective,
and affordable puppets I
have ever had. Performer
friends of mine are
jealous of me and my
new buddy........they all
want one now!
My only problem now is I
can't decide which Axtell
puppet I want next!
Because when it comes
to puppets....I am an
Axtell man now!
Keep up the GREAT
work!
Clowningly,
Brad"Spazz"Byers

"...I purchased an Axtell
'Bird', which I have
named Dooda
(pronounced Doo-dah),
the Dodo..... and this
afternoon performed my
first gig using it. He was
an instant hit. The arm
gadget worked
flawlessly and the
illusion was just dandy.
The audience
ahhhhhhed when
Doodah was done. My
main figure, Horatio,
was extremely jealous
and muttered
shamelessly of being
upstaged. Fortunately
the audience took to
him and he received his
share of the applause,
mitigating the instant
rivalry...A short report...
I'm very pleased with the
figure and the
response.... "
