I would use the rat with the kids with cancer that I work with. I'd use the rat as if it were in a fight for his life as these kids are. And even though it's a tough fight, it's worth it.

The idea: I would discuss articles from the newspaper with him, and every time I say a CAT word (like CATastrophy, CATalouge, CATegory, CATalyst,....or even CATch) the rat would get very neurotic, and start looking for the cat....

Idea: I would use him (her?) to portray the church mouse (rat) that by hanging out in the church saw and heard a lot of good things that changed his life.

I'd use him (her?) for sermon material - for a children's sermon, but aimed at all ages - about what we look like when we're trying desperately to keep up with the demands of the world... And how that hurts us emotionally and spiritually (but, still, keep it upbeat - yikes)..

This rat is from a war torn country (your choice) and tells of how wonderful it is to now live in a free country, with plenty of food and fine homes to hide in. His worst danger here are cats, which are smaller than he is, so fears nothing. So now he doesn't have to act as neuortic as he looks. He is still shell shocked, and loud noises make him jump.

The Rat looks superb. He also looks like he is always trying to con or scam some kinda deal behind your back. I would give him a suitcase of cheap items like watches or jewelery. At every opportune moment he will try and sell you something out of his case whether or not he has it or not. He always gets sidetracked and likes the ladies. I would call him Arfer Sixpence .

Idea: "Randolph the Rat"(who's very paranoid, and has a severe stutter) would be used in the drug awareness program, showing the signs of drugs and alcohol and how it "messes" up your life (just look at him) How these pitfalls don't just happen to everyone else, that they can effect all walks of life.

This was originally a church mouse. He grew up, feasting on leftovers from potluck suppers and food left over
from youth group meetings. Junk food wasn't healthy, so he looks abit unhealthy. He tells of the dangers of overeating junk food, and the joys of listening to the praise & worship songs, and hymns, (rewrites some of their lyrics! like I surrender SOME) and he is fascinated by the Gospel message and tells the A B C's of believing in the Lord.
