AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION

VENTRILOQUIST - Start out by discovering your hand & making it talk. Then have a distant voice coming from your diaper, pull out a teddy bear and have it talk!
CLOWNS - Put on some circus music and pull props out of your diaper - red nose (stick it on) rubber chicken, jumbo foam props - end with a squirt gun!
JUGGLERS - pull out three foam balls from the diaper and learn to juggle. Cry if you drop one!

My idea is to vanish a silk with a thumb tip, then suck your thumb, leaving the tip in my mouth, pretend to look for the silk in my diaper etc. Then there would be a loud recorded burp and then I would pull the silk from my mouth. You could also have the silk reappear inside a baby bottle. Another idea for a bottle is a "snake Bottle" with spring snakes that scare the "baby." You run out of milk, shake the bottle - still no milk, open it to see what's inside, then SNAKES! - Mike Bent
It might be funny, or just plain gross, to "vanish" the silk into the TT while it's in your mouth, (babies seem to put everything in their mouths), and have it reappear in the the diaper. Ken Dumm

I open my skit out by saying......
"When I was a Litttle girl we didn't have a whole lot of money so I had to make my own puppets.. I'd like to show you how it all started for me". I'm going to show you my first two puppets that I made when I was a little girl." "But..... I need two people to help me.(Kids start raising their hands and I say)...."This is a Family show...so that means the whole family helps out...I need two adults". (I look around) "Hey....why are all the adults looking away" !!
FOR A VENT......... "All I need you to do is sit in these chairs. Now I need to see if you can follow some direction. I'm going to squeeze your shoulders and everytime I squeeze your shoulder I need you to open your mouth. ETC....( you know how that goes)...teachning them to be a dummy. (After I finish with that) Now I was a little girl about 5 years old...what kind of puppets do you think I wanted to make ?? (Audiences shout out different things).."Here's a hint.....(I give the adults each a bottle). "That's right folks...we're making Babies". "Are our babies done yet...What else do they need do they need ? ( Audience is laughing and yelling...goining crazy) I then proceed to put on the bonnets. (Once the bonnets go on the audience goes even crazier !!) "Do you suppose we're done yet ???"
Audience Yells....NO !!
(people are yelling out "DIAPER ")
"Alright...........They'll need a (I pull out a diaper for each) I pause a few minutes to watch their reaction...."O.K......PUT IT ON." (Their reaction is very funny)
"O.K. .....wait a minute.....give me back the bottle..., give me back the diaper....., I think I have something that will really make you look like a baby." (I then proceed to put on the costumes...(Blanket MUST be covering the bodies at this point) (Once both costumes are on....audience see's these things covering the people and something moving up and down under the blanket) I Say........"Wow !!!!!!! I'm feeling a little hot in here"... "I'll bet the babies are hot...I'll just take off their blankets" !! ( Audience is now on the FLOOR !!!)
" Now Every good puppeteer must give their puppet's a name. (pointing to boy character) "This is sleepy Head." ( I look at person in outfit and nudge him if he's not sleeping (closing his eye's or acting the part) ) "This is sleepy Head". "You can tell...but when you wake sleepy Head up he might sound like this.....(I DO BABY CRY WHILE HE OPENS HIS MOUTH). " Wow !!! sounds to me like he might have a Bubble...(I slap his back lightly and then ....I make him burp).
(I turn to other baby) "This is Poopsy"! (I point to him.)."Don't you dare"!!
Finale: Now......My babies are very talented and would like to Sing a little song (If you're a VENT)(Song..."Let the Sun Shine in" ) OR do a little dance
(IF A NON-VENT). HoKey-Pokey or YMCA.
