How does the baby change faces so fast?

The crying face is on the back side of it's head, so you just turn the head around very quickly and it looks SO REAL!

The normal cute face has a moving mouth and your fingers make the mouth move. Those fingers stay in that mouth the whole time. On the back of the head is another crying face sculptured in the open mouth screaming position. You simply turn the head around with a flick of the wrist and start your crying!   It looks totally real.

You can cover the move and give it more realisim and humor by using a baby bottle or pacifier. Put it in it's happy! Take it out - it cries! Needs to be burped. Oops what's that I just heard? (toot).... CRY!!!!

CUSTOMER NOTE - If anyone is thinking of purchasing the Axtell Cry Baby, do not hesitate. I've used mine the last few months to wonderful responses, but today was the absolute best. I did a show for about 200 people - 75 children and their parents. The baby was a hit and the laughter was just nonstop. After the show I went to a local restaurant for lunch before my next performance and the couple next to me mentioned they were at the show and enjoyed it very much. They said they felt like kids again. The husband said he never laughed so hard as when I brought out the baby and he wanted to know how the baby changed it's expression so quickly. Then he said, "That baby had three different expressions and they changed at lightning speed!" For those of who own the Axtell baby you know there are only two expressions, not three. I was chuckling inside as he kept mentioning the three different expressions. He was fascinated by this. Finally I said it was just "magic". Steve, you have created another wonderful character. Thanks so much, Linda Holliday

That's great Linda!  He probably thought it was more because the "normal" face has the moving mouth which when moved creates changes also! Ax

Yes, I never thought about the moving mouth causing other expressions, plus I put the tip of my finger between the lips and push out to create the illusion that the baby is sticking his tongue out. That always gets a huge laugh. The baby is a great character!, Linda

Dear Steve,
I received your Baby Cry Puppet.... amazing.
The idea of two heads is really nice.
I plan to do some skit with the puppet.

Ramdas Padhye, India

I just purchased the Axtell Cry Baby... and it is nothing shy of awesome.
The reactions I get from both kids and adults is mind blowing. With my babycry routine, the puppet is flawless perfection. It's a duo that can't be
stopped. Destined to rock the face of vent! Thanks to Ax for another
homerun from the land of latex. You are the king!

check out my Binky the baby! (and hear the baby CRY!)

Cry Baby was by far the favorite when I did the walk arounds. One lady from the neighborhood was so taken by it that she asked where she could get one for her 9 year old grandson. When I told her it would cost $150 she assured me it didn't matter. So I gave her your website.

A few weeks ago she called me to ask that I perform at her grandson's 10th birthday party. She told me that he is coming down from Wisconsin and will do a magic show at his own party. She then asked that I do vent and cause him to fall in love with the Cry Baby.

The last character I used that evening was Cry Baby. After it cried, I asked Patrick, who by the way was the only child at the party, if he would like to come up and try it for himself. After he started playing around with it, I said, "I've changed my mind. You can't play with my baby; go play with your own." At that moment his grandmother stepped up behind Patrick and handed him his own Axtell Cry Baby. Now we email each other and I'm trying to help him get started with vent.

CRY BABY IDEAS........

from Tony Borders
idea: Anger control. For schools we would talk about how to control one's anger. Even a baby seems to stop crying when it decides to. Could make a very funny skit!

Steve Axtell
The Baby could be on a mission from God with Bible and Bottle in hand! She get's upset and red in the face when people don't take her seriously!

Name: Tony Borders
Idea: The baby represents us when we pray. We ask God for something and if we get it we are all smiles. If we don't we cry like a baby! But we forget that God knows what is best!

Steven S. Jodzio
I would use Barnacle the Shark, (which I have), with the Jaws music. Each time the music would play Barnacle would appear and the baby would really scream. A cute running gag, but used in a laughter format, not to scare the kids in the audience.

Robert Shimanek
Will use the baby cry with my children vent shows and magic. I want my wife involved and the baby will reply when I have a memory loss, or when Vern the Bird says the wrong lines, etc. The sponteous responses always gets the laughs.

Robert Mace
Idea is I would get (buy) or make a big Easter egg to put the baby in then I would use a DODO Bird in part of the skit and the bird say's...An they call me a dumb DODO, everybody knows Rabbits don't come out of eggs only birds do. then surprise everyone with a mixed up Magic Easter egg with the baby in it.

Scott Correll
Since I do magic ,I'd have a tape playing of baby sounds and then go to a box where they are coming from, open it and nothing. Closing the box I hear the sounds again and open the box. Still empty. Finally this time when I close the box the sounds of a crying OUT LOUD baby is heard. When I open the box their he is. A BABY production LOL

Steven S. Jodzio
Would use baby in telling fairy tales, each time a scary part came up the
baby would cry, then smile when the story would continue on a happy note.

Carol Johnson
I would use the cry Baby in an act I am working on for musical theatre song about a Broadway Baby. I would also use it in my classroom as a special reward for hard working classes to have the Baby visit my students

Name: Steve Axtell
Idea: Have a woman (planted) in your audience holding the baby covered up, come up on stage and ask you to watch her baby while she goes to the powder room. She leaves you stuck on stage with her baby!

patdave1@aol.com
I would take the baby in a car with me and on a long trip when we stop at a red light and there is Kids in the next car I would pick up the baby and show it to them.

Steven S. Jodzio
Would let baby cry each time it's brother uses a bad drug.

Nancy Ambrose
I would use the Cry baby in my hospital work. I'd have it crying when
getting a treatment, but then happy agin when it's done!

Paul Beber
"BABY" cries at the thought of pastor singing off key.

Name: Colin Dymond
Idea: I would use him as a running gag in my magic show. Every time the
crowd applaud they would wake the baby and then we have to have a quiet spot
to calm the baby again.

Christopher Lock
Have when someone says a word like "raccoon", the baby hollers at the top of its lungs.

Keith "Paul Beber"
I would like to use him in a church ministry for children, as the spoiled baby! Like he crys when Sister Maude FacePincher enters the room.

Name: Christopher Lock
Idea: Have him being scared and crying when the performer is looking at him, and happy and goofing around when the performer isn't looking at him.
