CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT - KEN SCOTT

Meet Ken Scott:

Well first let me say what a big fan I am of Axtell's products. I guess I was 22 years old when I bought my first Magic Drawing Board. I knew when I put the drawing board in my show what a hit it was going to be. Since then I would say my relationship has grown with AXTELL and the group over the years. I send him ideas for projects he is working on and I ask him for ideas that I am working on. I needed a personalized AX trax for my drawing board one year for a new library show. I sent Steve my script and he and Greg recorded and made it turn great.

On another year I needed a puppet for my library shows that would be a CROCO the Axtell gator puppet. When I got the puppet my intentions was to only use it for that summer well 8 years later CROCO is still in every school and library show.

Then I got the book puppet. I use the book puppet about every other year to start my reading shows. Everything Axtell does or makes, he makes professional and he makes it to last a long time. I also own and use the Applause meter. What a great warm routine that has turned out to be.

I have visited Axtell at their warehouse in CA. and it is just great to be in there. So neat to see the detail that goes into making the puppets. Steve has a great staff and they love what they do.

I was recently working the Magic Castle in Hollywood CA. in April and I invited Axtell and his group to come and see the show. We all went to see a tapping of the Jay Leno Tonight show and then we went back to my hotel room and played with the new remote puppets both the chimp and the toucan. The beautiful Melanie Michaels from Australia and Ralph the Great was there with me and got to play around with these new remote controlled puppets. We were all BLOWN away by them. Really great looking stuff.

It was time to head over for my shows at the Magic Castle when it hit me. I wanted to add the toucan in my show that night as an intro. I sat there and I asked Steve what he thought and he said let's do it.

We had not programmed anything so what we did was had an intro I use in my show already. So we put the toucan in the center stage the curtains opened and there was the toucan and he was moving. Then you hear my intro and the toucan starts saying my intro.

The entire time Steve is seating in the front row with the remote controlling the toucan while he is in the audience (HOW COOL IS THAT!). Again we had no time to program the toucan so we had to do it this way to make it work. Well needless to say it was a HUGE hit! I am honored that the toucan made his first public show with me and at all places the MAGIC CASTLE stage. I look forward to getting my Toucan I have TONS of ideas with it.
